'Let Your Waste Work for You'

To mark the launch of their new Construction Hotline and Site Waste Management Plan Health Check Service, NISP North East are hosting their “Let Your Waste Work For You” Event in association with Constructing Excellence.
The National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP) is a fully funded resource efficiency programme aimed at reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. NISP members benefit from being part of a facilitated network, which is able to find solutions to difficult waste problems and source recycled materials from a variety of different sectors.
NISP North East’s two new services aim to challenge some of the key barriers facing Resource Efficiency within the Construction Sector today. Firstly, the new SWMP Health Check service will aim to enhance current SWMP practice by identifying opportunities for more sustainable resource management. Thus cutting the costs of disposal and boosting projects environmental performance.
Secondly, if you need a solution for a problematic waste quickly or alternatively need to source a recycled material, the Construction Hotline aims to offer a response to enquiries within 48 hours. The service will be a free tool for the construction industry, helping to cut waste to landfill and boost recycled content.
The event will close with NISP’s showcase ‘QuickWins’ workshop to give new members a flavour of how NISP works. The workshop will aim to provide both new and existing members with solutions, on the day, for problematic waste streams that are currently destined for landfill. It will also be an opportunity to find out about innovative alternatives for materials that previously may never have been considered.
