Mock Mediation of a Building Dispute

CENE in conjunction with Muckle LLP are delighted to be hosting a 'Mock Mediation'.
Local mediator Rob Langley will compere a mock mediation between an employer and a civil engineering contractor when an apparently simple hard landscaping contract went badly wrong...this evening event promises to be an entertaining but useful illustration of the simple skills needed and advantages to be obtained from using mediation instead of going to court.
The Mediation will focus on Pinto Consulting, a management consultancy contracted with a local company, Tarco, to resurface their large car parking area. The quoted job was for £75,000 and Tarco promised it would be a fast job.
Pat Meek (played by CENE Catriona Lingwood) Financial Director of Pinto Consulting agreed to a simple payment of £50,000 on completion of the first part of the car park and then the further £25,000 on full completion of the work. Just after the first payment Pat noticed the car park wasnt laid out as what was agreed and mentioned this to Sam Mason, the director of Tarco (played by David Pearson, Elliott Associates). He said it did not matter as the spaces were configured differently.
Then six weeks later other problems started appearing and Pat contacted Sam again and this is when the dispute began.
